About the artist:

Born: 1978

Education: BFA with honors, The University of the Arts (Philadelphia College of Art & Design)

Jill Pearson began her career as an editorial illustrator. Throughout most of her 20's she focused on digitally created collage illustrations made from scanned objects, photographs, and other elements. She has received awards and recognition from various illustration institutions and has exhibited in shows at New York's Society of Illustrators. Her illustrations have been published in newspapers and magazines around the country.

In 2006 she left the world of editorial illustration to begin an online children's boutique, Sophie and Spice. Named for her daughter, the site sells a variety of custom designed products including nursery art, pop art portraits, and posters made from children's artwork. The website has been featured in Pregnancy and Newborn, Babytalk Magazine, Parenting.com and many other magazines and websites as it continues to grow.

Missing the tactile nature of paint and other mediums, Jill rekindled her roots as a fine artist in her late 20s. Much like her digital illustration work, her abstract paintings are about color, shape and texture. She allows the art to speak to her rather than conforming to a sketch or preconceived idea, which she finds to be a refreshing break from the process of designing and illustrating.
